Building Grace, Strength, and Control Through Ballet
At ZD Dance Academy, our Secondary Ballet classes help dancers ages 10 to 13 develop a solid foundation in ballet technique. Every movement requires precision, control, and grace, encouraging students to improve their body awareness and posture. With structured lessons focused on alignment, balance, and fluidity, students enhance their coordination, flexibility, and strength over time. This attention to detail fosters discipline and focus, both on the dance floor and in other aspects of life, such as school. As students progress, they also explore expressive storytelling through movement, adding artistry to their technique. By the end of the season, dancers perform ballet routines that showcase their hard work and growth, gaining the confidence to take on new challenges.
Express Yourself Through Movement
In our Secondary Jazz classes, dancers ages 10 to 13 immerse themselves in the high-energy world of jazz dance. They learn to combine technique and creativity by syncing movements to dynamic music and rhythms. With guidance from our expert instructors, students explore key jazz elements, such as isolation exercises, kicks, leaps, and turns, improving their flexibility, strength, and coordination along the way. In addition to mastering choreography, dancers are encouraged to express their individuality, building confidence in their abilities. Jazz dance provides a fun and freeing experience, helping students develop performance skills and the ability to engage with an audience. As they progress, they create routines that are performed during recitals, celebrating their creativity and personal growth.
Building Strength and Flexibility
Our Secondary Acro classes are perfect for dancers ages 10 to 13 who want to combine the grace of dance with the strength of acrobatics. Students learn tumbling, balancing, and flexibility techniques, developing both physical endurance and mental resilience. Aligned with the Acrobatic Arts syllabus, our Acro classes provide students with hands-on instruction, ensuring they progress safely while mastering challenging moves. Dancers also gain a strong sense of discipline and focus as they work toward perfecting tricks and routines. Acro Conditioning classes are required to build the necessary strength, helping dancers reduce the risk of injury and increase their ability to perform advanced movements. With every achievement—whether mastering a backbend or a new tumbling pass—students build confidence and learn to persevere through challenges.
Fostering Teamwork and Confidence
At ZD Dance Academy, we believe that dance is not just about movement—it’s about community, character, and connection. In our Secondary Classes, students across all disciplines—ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and Acro—learn the importance of collaboration and teamwork. Through group projects and performances, they discover how to support one another and celebrate their collective achievements. This supportive environment helps dancers develop friendships, confidence, and resilience, learning to embrace both successes and challenges with grace. Our goal is to create a space where every dancer feels valued and included, fostering personal growth and social skills that extend beyond the studio. By the end of the year, students leave not only with new dance skills but with lifelong lessons in respect, teamwork, and perseverance.
